NextImg:Britney Spears reveals bombshell memoir’s title, topless cover and release date

The title, cover art and release date for Britney Spears’ highly anticipated bombshell memoir has finally been revealed.

“The Woman in Me,” which features a black-and-white cover photo of a topless Spears in her younger years, will hit bookshelves Oct. 24.

Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, acquired the memoir after several publishing houses bid on the much-anticipated tome, People reported Tuesday.

“Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery,” Gallery Books Senior Vice President and Publisher Jennifer Bergstrom told the website.

“I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last.”

News of the singer’s memoir comes after the successful termination of her 13-year conservatorship, in which her father, Jamie Spears, controlled much of her life and her finances. Britney won back control of her life – as well as her $60 million estate – in November 2021.

The publishing house shared that Britney’s memoir “illuminates the enduring power of music and love — and the importance of a woman telling her own story” on her own terms.

“[‘The Woman in Me’] is a brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope,” a press release stated.

Page Six exclusively reported last February that the “Toxic” singer solidified a landmark book deal with Simon & Schuster said to be worth as much as $15 million.

“The deal is one of the biggest of all time, behind the Obamas,” an insider shared at the time.

The “Crossroads” actress had apparently been angling to write a memoir ever since her younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, wrote a scathing book. Titled “Things I Should Have Said,” the highly publicized book was released in January 2022.

Britney responded by claiming her sister’s book was filled with lies and even called her “scum.”

“Congrats best seller…..The nerve of you to sell a book now and talk s—t but your f—king lying…..I wish you would take a lie detector test so all these masses of people see you’re lying through your teeth about me !!!!” Britney wrote via Instagram at the time.

“I wish the almighty, Lord would could come down and show this whole world that you’re lying and making money off of me !!!! You are scum, Jamie Lynn.”

In April, sources told Page Six that Britney had completed writing her memoir and that it would “shake the world.”

“Britney’s book is a story of triumph. It will cover her most vulnerable moments, her childhood – being a little girl with big dreams – her breakup with Justin Timberlake, the moment she shaved her head, and her battle with her family over her conservatorship,” one source told us.

“It is also a story of survival, finding her way out of the crippling conservatorship to finding happiness with her husband Sam Asghari.”

Page Six also confirmed that Britney had been working with ghostwriter Sam Lansky, an acclaimed novelist and journalist.

Another insider shared that the book would be “a groundbreaking instant bestseller,” adding, “This is an inspiring read, not only because it shows the strength of Britney’s spirit, but because her story is told with such style, wit, intelligence, honesty, and without any self-pity.”

Last February, sources close to the singer told Page Six that Britney wanted to write a memoir so she could take back ownership of her own life’s story.

“The narrative has been shifted time and time again by the media, the paparazzi, Britney’s exes and even her own family,” the insider noted. “After being silenced for almost 14 years, she’s ready to take back her voice, something that never should’ve been taken from her in the first place.”
