Bowen Yang isn’t just kissing and telling, he’s kissing and apologizing.

The Saturday Night Live star and his Las Culturistas podcast co-host Matt Rogers welcomed Ariana Grande on Wednesday’s (Nov. 6) episode, and took a moment to issue an apology in person for how he smooched her during her Oct. 12 hosting appearance, per Deadline.

The sketch, titled “Charades with Mom,” followed Yang visiting his boyfriend’s (Michael Longfellow) home, where he was in for an intense game night with his boyfriend’s extremely competitive mother (Grande). The bit ended with Grande and Yang locking lips.

“I opened my mouth up too much when we kissed on SNL,” Yang told the “7 Rings” songstress.

Grande teased that he “absolutely did” and “was shaking with laughter.”

“No, no, no, not in a bad way!” she insisted. “Not in a bad way — just in a disarming way.”

Yang confessed, “I kissed you too much.”

Nonetheless, Grande assured Yang, “that’s okay.”

“No, we were really dropped in,” she continued. “We were dropped in and it felt like what these people needed at that time. It felt like what these characters required. And I’m all for it.”

The two revealed that “there was not a kiss originally” in the sketch, and that it was the result of a thought Grande had during rehearsal. However, she claimed that she “didn’t say anything” because she was worried people would think she’s “absolutely insane and too comfortable.”

“But I was like, ‘Oh, how funny would it be if we kissed at the end?'” she added.

It turns out the two Wicked actors were on the same page, as Yang texted her “a few hours later” with the idea to wrap the sketch with a kiss. They shared that they did in fact kiss during the dress rehearsal. While Grande quipped that Yang’s mouth was “absolutely too open,” she clarified that she was “kidding.”

She ultimately admitted that she was “shaking giggling” and that she “broke” during the sketch. Yang praised her hosting gig as a “top-tier, A+, all-time perfect episode.”
