NextImg:‘Born ready’: Lakers fan misses shot after wasting time in mid-game contest

One young Lakers fan may want his 30 seconds of fame back.

Cooper, 13, had a chance to compete in an on-court contest during a time out at Crypto.com Arena on Friday night during the Lakers series-clinching win over the Grizzlies in Game 6 on Friday night.

He told the in-arena host Ashley that he was “born ready” for this moment, and things got interesting.

Cooper was given 30 seconds to accumulate 10 points by making baskets from designated spots on the court to win a prize.

But he curiously decided to take just one shot – a 3-pointer that was worth 10 points. A layup was worth one and a free throw would have been worth three.

So what was Cooper doing while the clock ticked away?

The young fan pumped up the crowd during the majority of his time on the court.

The fan only was able to get off one shot attempt, which clanked against the basket.

Pumping up the crowd of course.

The Junior Laker put the ball on the ground, looked at the host and began waving his arms in the air to get the fans into it.

He even did the Hulk Hogan ear-to-the-crowd gesture as the host tried to subtly remind him he should be trying to score points.

Cooper finally shot with two seconds remaining on the clock and saw his 3-pointer hit off the back of the rim.

The young man did get to go home with a Lakers prize pack and took a photo with the famous Lakers girls.

He did also see the home team win 125-85 with Jack Nicholson making a rare appearance, so all wasn’t lost for Cooper.

The Lakers await the winner of the Kings-Warriors series in the second round.
