Izzy Nix had a front-row seat Sunday to husband Bo Nix’s impressive preseason debut with the Broncos.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, Izzy captured the 24-year-old quarterback throwing a pass in Denver’s 34-30 win against the Colts in Indianapolis.
“Lived in answered prayers today,” Izzy captioned the post.
Nix, the 12th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, completed 15 of 21 attempts for 125 yards and a touchdown while helping the Broncos score in four of the five possessions he played.
“It was a good day,” Nix said, according to the Broncos’ website. “I thought we ran the ball efficiently, made some good plays in the pass game. Converted some third downs, got points when we needed to. It was a good job going into half with points and then coming out with points — [it] felt like that was a good point in the game. But overall, felt like we did a good job. Huge team win.”
Nix took over for veteran Jarrett Stidham late in the first quarter.
Former first-round pick Zach Wilson, who was traded to the Broncos in April by the Jets, entered the game during the third quarter.
Second-year Broncos coach Sean Payton lauded the effort of his quarterback trio following their first preseason win.
“All three of them did a good job,” Payton said.
Nix will start this Sunday against the Packers before the team closes out the preseason on Aug. 25, when Denver hosts the Cardinals.
The quarterback, who played collegiately at Auburn and Oregon, has impressed at training camp, making a case for the starting nod for the regular season.
Nix was the sixth quarterback selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft behind Caleb Williams (No. 1 to the Bears), Jayden Daniels (No. 2 to the Commanders), Drake Maye (No.3 to the Patriots), Michael Penix (No. 8 to the Falcons) and J.J. McCarthy (No. 10 to the Vikings).
Izzy, who was by Nix’s side when the Broncos made the pick, celebrated the move in a heartfelt Instagram post.
“The day I met Bo, he told me about this God-sized dream of his. I will never stop praising the Lord for His faithfulness or have enough words to express how proud I am of you, Bo. Overjoyed and honored to join Broncos country!!!” she gushed in April.
The couple wed in 2022.
Denver opens the season on the road against the Seahawks on Sunday, Sept. 8.
