Former NFL and MLB star Bo Jackson won $21 million in a civil case against his own family.
The legendary two-sport star was awarded the hefty sum after an extortion attempt coordinated by his niece and nephew, according to mulitple reports.
As part of the decision that was handed down on Feb. 2 in Cobb County, Georgia, a permanent protective order bars Thomas Lee Anderson and his sister, Erica M. Anderson Ross, from further contacting Jackson and his immediate family members.
Jackson, 61, previously accused the two of “relentless harassment and intimidation” in attempting to extort around $20 million, AL.com reports.
According to Jackson, the harassment began in 2022.
The lawsuit that was filed in Georgia claims Jackson was threatened via social media posts and direct messages that portrayed him in a “false light” and caused him severe emotional distress, according to WSBTV in Atlanta.
Jackson alleged that the two asked for $20 million, or the harassment would continue.
WSBTV also reported the Andersons threatened to appear at spots near Jackson’s home in an effort to continue their intimidation.
“Unfortunately for those attempting to extort $20 million dollars from Jackson and his family, Bo still hits back hard,” Jackson’s attorneys, David Conley and Robert Ingram, said Monday in a news release.
As part of the protective order, the Andersons are required to remain at least 500 yards from Jackson and his immediate family.

They also must remove any content about the Jacksons from their social media pages and are barred from further posting about him.
Jackson was one of the most famous athletes in the world during his peak, winning the 1985 Heisman Trophy, and then became a two-sport star across professional baseball and football.
He was drafted No. 1 overall in the 1986 NFL Draft by the Buccaneers — though he did not sign — after his tenure at Auburn and later was drafted and played for the Raiders from 1987-90.
Jackson, a 1989 American League All-Star, played in the majors from 1986-94 as a member of the Royals, White Sox and Angels.
