Startling video footage captured the massive blast at a New Jersey housing complex that injured six people and left more than 30 others out on the street.
The shocking clip, obtained by ABC affiliate WPVI-News, shows the end units in a row of homes on South Pine Lane in Newark go up in smoke as the explosion sends debris high into the air and engulfs a parked car.
With the walls ripped to shreds, a refrigerator and pieces of furniture were all that was left of the building, the outlet said.
Police are still investigating the cause of the blast at the Newark Housing Authority property that shook the neighborhood shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday.
Local resident Valery Lasky told WPVI that she first heard about the blast when her son called her job.
“He said, ‘Ma, a building exploded!'” Lasky said. “I ran and looked and saw a guy climbing down the rubble.
“The owner of the store said there were people all over the ground.”

Five of those injured were taken to nearby Saint Barnabas Hospital, including one seriously injured resident who was taken to the burn unit. Their conditions were not immediately available.
The Red Cross stepped in to provide shelter to 13 families that were displaced in local hotels.
In all, officials said 31 people, including three children, were forced from their homes.
“It’s a traumatic event,” Newark Mayor Ras Baraka told reporters after the incident. “I spoke to a few residents who have obviously been displaced because of this.
“The city is being fully supportive of the housing authority to make sure we can provide what we can.”
