NextImg:Bills’ Stefon Diggs quickly responds to Stephen A. Smith over ‘sources’ claiming he wants out

Buffalo Bills’ star receiver Stefon Diggs didn’t appreciate what ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith said about him on Monday’s “First Take.”

The boisterous ESPN talk show host said “sources” told him Diggs wants out of Buffalo.

“Brother wants out, I’m just telling you what I know,” Smith said. “He don’t want to be in Buffalo anymore. I have my sources. Stefon Diggs has got to be there but he’d prefer to be gone because he’s lost a level of belief in the Buffalo Bills.”

The comments harkened back to issues the Bills and Diggs had already worked through when it was reported in June he was not at mandatory mini-camp when it opened.

Diggs showed up the next day, talked to members of the organization and then went home.

But Diggs denied Smith’s reporting directly Monday afternoon in posts on X.

“100% not true,” Diggs wrote. “I don’t know who the source is but I thought (I’d) nip this s–t in the bud already.”

He also posted: “Rocking wit my dawgs… Bills mafia through and through !!!”

The controversy surrounding Diggs and the Bills had seemed to be put to rest and the wide receiver addressed it when training camp opened last month.

He told reporters at the time that he and the Bills were “on the same page and moving forward.”

“I’ve got more football behind me than I do in front of me,” Diggs said, according to Syracuse.com. “My main focus and my only focus is winning. Super Bowls. I mean, everybody says they want a Super Bowl, but we’ve had legitimate chances at this thing. We’ve had the team. We’ve had the coaches. We’ve had everything that we needed.”

The Bills open the season against the Jets at the Meadowlands on Sept. 11.
