NextImg:Bills’ Jordan Phillips destroys Jason Kelce with ‘Brother’s podcast’ dig

It is safe to say Buffalo Bills lineman Jordan Phillips isn’t a 92 percenter.

Phillips took a shot at Eagles center, Jason Kelce — and dragged his “New Heights” podcast into it — while responding to Kelce’s previous claim that he “purposely tried to hurt” his teammate, Cam Jurgens, during Philadelphia’s 37-34 overtime win over Buffalo on Nov. 26, 2023.

“He is a well-respected guy around the league for whatever reason,” Phillips said Wednesday while speaking to WROC TV. “Now he suddenly has a voice because he is on his brother’s podcast and what not, so he thinks he can use it. But the way he uses his voice, it doesn’t make any sense.”

Kelce co-hosts his top-rated podcast with his younger brother, Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, and their “New Heights” fans are called “92 percenters” — a nod to Jason’s previous rant that a quarterback sneak works 92 percent of the time to get one yard.

It occurred on a fourth-down play when the Eagles lined up for their signature “Brotherly Shove” tush push, and Phillips attempted to jump the snap and shoved Jurgens to the ground.

Phillips was flagged for encroachment.

A few days after the game, Kelce said Phillips should be fined for his hit on Jurgens and there is no place for that in the NFL during an appearance on the 94WIP Morning Show.

Phillips said Wednesday he thinks it’s “crazy” that Kelce took issue with the play and called him out of for executing the tush push — which has been a controversial topic in the NFL.

“You look at the tush push, he (Kelce) dives at somebody’s knees every play and tries to roll them up,” Phillips said.

“So for him to speak on somebody being dirty, I don’t think he has any right or any means to call for a fine when he does a whole bunch of stuff. I just think that’s kind of crazy for him to even mention that.’

“I’m 335 pounds — How am I going to stop regardless? How do I know the ball wasn’t going?

“Even if they would have got that play off, it is either them hitting us or us hitting them. You can dish it out, obviously, but can’t take it? That is just soft.”

During his appearance on the 94WIP Morning Show, Kelce explained why Phillips’ play was “a disgrace” to the league.

“I thought it was b——t at the time,” Kelce said. “I really did. I said so to the official on the field. I said, ‘Listen, I’ve been running that play [for] a lot of years. I’ve seen people jump offsides. [Phillips] made zero effort to stop after he jumped off sides.

“He [Phillips] purposely tried to hurt Cam Jurgens and I thought it should have been a personal foul … and I think he should be fined for that play … I thought that play in particular was absolutely a disgrace that the NFL should not allow. I really do.

“I don’t know Jordan Phillips. He might be the best guy in the world, but that in my opinion, the NFL needs to drop something about because that shouldn’t be allowed in this game at this level. I thought the officials did not do a good job at officiating that play.”

Kelce said on the latest episode of “New Heights” that he couldn’t care less about the NFL commissioner Roger Goodell decided to ban the tush push because he’s “over the discussion about it.”
