Former president Bill Clinton stopped by The View this morning, about a month after Donald Trump defeated Kamala Harris for his second term in the White House. While the Hot Topics table has been grappling with the election results in recent weeks, Clinton seemed a bit more at peace, telling the panel that he did everything he could do to boost Harris in her campaign against Trump.

Clinton, whose wife Hillary Clinton ran for president twice and was defeated by Trump back in 2016, recently revealed in his memoir Citizen: My Life After The White House that he was unable to sleep for two years after Hillary’s loss in “the darkest election possible in the United States.”

He wrote, per The Daily Mail, “I couldn’t sleep for two years after the election. I was so angry, I wasn’t fit to be around.”

Bill added, “I apologize to all those who endured my outbursts of rage, which lasted for years and bothered or bored people who thought it pointless to rehash things that couldn’t be changed.”

Joy Behar asked her guest this morning how he was faring after Trump’s second victory.

“We’ve been trying to process the results of this election,” Behar told Bill, before quoting the segment in his book about his “outbursts of rage” and troubles sleeping after Hillary’s loss to Trump.

“Me either, I still can’t sleep!” she quipped, before asking him, “So how are you sleeping now? What’s gonna happen now?”

He replied, “I’m sleeping better now because I did everything I could for the alternative. But I also think it’s important for everybody to just take a deep breath and say, unlike in 2016 there was no outside influence like the FBI director interfering at the last moment in violation of 70 years of policy.”

Bill then admitted that, “This time, Donald Trump won the race fair and square…I think.”

When Behar pressed Bill on what he meant by “I think,” he responded, “I’m not like him. I have to have some evidence to make a charge.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
