The Issue: Former President Bill Clinton’s comments about crime and security at the southern border.

Former President Bill Clinton exposing the reality of open borders that the Biden-Harris administration has refused to acknowledge was a real shocker (“You got that right, Bubba!” Oct. 15).

Clinton’s comments go against the Democratic argument that the open border is necessary because of the need for cheap labor and low birthrates.

So what was the point of a border bill?

If deportation is out, then the bill was for processing migrants who have entered the country illegally.

That doesn’t count as border security.

I wonder what Bill Clinton — or any other Democrat, for that matter — would say to the family members of the victims of crimes perpetrated by undocumented migrants.

So far, most Dems refuse to acknowledge the issue publicly.

The former president is spot on with his statement.

The border problem was created by the Biden-Harris administration.

Unfortunately, the Democratic leadership and the media deliberately refuse to acknowledge the situation.

Kudos to Clinton for having the courage to express his opinion honestly.

It certainly beats following the Democratic narrative and risking the perception of being another floundering idiot.

Did Bill Clinton not get the memo?

He is finally opening up and telling the truth about illegal immigration.

But his opinion about unfettered immigration is absolutely wrong.

Americans aren’t having babies because they can’t afford it.

Yes, there are some other reasons why Americans aren’t having babies.

But the main reason is the cost of having a baby and rearing a child.

And the financial burden of the immigration crisis certainly doesn’t help.

Former President Donald Trump has unexpected allies among the Democrats.

Bill Clinton connecting Laken Riley’s death to the Democratic open-door policy will hopefully shed some light on the party’s disingenuous candidate.

Meanwhile, President Biden seems to be intentionally sabotaging Vice President Kamala Harris by suddenly making himself available to the press in an effort to upstage her.

Biden is reminding the public that he is still the president, which made her look weak in her forced photo-ops during the hurricanes.

The Issue: The armed man arrested with forged passes to Donald Trump’s rally in California.

Local California police arrested an armed man headed to former President Donald Trump’s Coachella rally and let him out on $5,000 bail, with a hearing scheduled for after the November election (“Don rally ‘gunman’ eyes suit,” Oct. 16).

This guy was heavily armed and carried multiple passports, yet the police let him go free — suggesting that it is open season to assassinate Trump.

This must be condemned.

The suspect should be arrested and put behind bars now.

West Hartford, Conn.

An armed man was arrested outside Trump’s Coachella rally.

The local sheriff speculated it was the third assassination attempt.

He still let the guy walk!

Thomas Sarc

Central Islip

To say that this was a possible assassination attempt against Trump is putting the cart in front of the horse.

Let’s remember that the Second Amendment applies in California as well.

The police need to show us the evidence or a confession from the arrested individual.
