“#GoatYoga” takes UNC?
Well, sort of.
First-year Tar Heels coach Bill Belichick spoke Wednesday about the benefits of utilizing yoga as a recovery technique when discussing his UNC football team — months after his 24-year-old girlfriend, former college cheerleader Jordon Hudson, showcased her stretches in a viral beach post with the 73-year-old coach, who balanced her in the air with his feet.
“With all due respect, I’m not exactly sure what was or what wasn’t done here last year in all the different areas, yoga is a recovery technique, it’s not really a training technique, we use it more for recovery and there are a lot of benefits to it,” Belichick said, according to 247 Tar Heel.
“Certainly, it’s a good way after a couple, three, four days of practices to give the body a chance to recover, stretch, get the blood flowing and so forth, that’s really what it’s used for.”
Belichick, who is preparing for North Carolina’s season opener against TCU next month, had much of the internet buzzing in March when Hudson posted a series of Instagram snapshots of the couple at the beach in Florida, where she performed acrobatic exercises and showed off her flexibility.
“My favorite workout? #Billates,” Hudson captioned a video post, adding the hashtag “GoatYoga.”
The eight-time Super Bowl winner joined the college coaching ranks in December 2024 when UNC named him its next football coach.
Belichick spent 24 seasons in New England, winning six Super Bowls alongside future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady, before exiting the franchise in January 2024.
He pivoted to sports media opportunities after missing out on the NFL hiring cycle.
As for Hudson, whom Belichick was revealed to be dating in 2024, her role in the coach’s orbit has been widely dissected in recent months.
In the wake of a “CBS Mornings” interview debacle this past April, when Hudson punted a question about how the couple met, Belichick made it clear she isn’t involved in his UNC dealings.
“That’s really off to the side, it’s a personal relationship. She doesn’t have anything to do with UNC football,” Belichick said in May.
The controversies haven’t simmered, however, as Hudson was recently embroiled in podcast drama after Charlotte Wilder claimed she received a cold call from Belichick’s biggest fan.
