Bill Belichick delivered the Falcons their most brutal loss in franchise history.
And now he may be the next man to attempt to lead them to their first title.
In the aftermath of Belichick parting ways with the Patriots, the 71-year-old head coach is now favored to land with the Falcons, according to DraftKings.
Team | Odds pre-firing | Odds post-firing | Current odds |

Not coaching an NFL team | +700 | +175 | +75 |
Chargers | +200 | +200 | +400 |

Belichick reportedly still wants to continue, and there are seven other openings available, in addition to possible surprise firings after playoff teams are eliminated.
The Falcons are searching for a new coach after firing Arthur Smith, and reports have linked Belichick to the seemingly snake-bitten NFC South franchise.
It would be an ironic twist if Belichick, just like former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, headed to the NFC South to enjoy the final few years of his career.
The Falcons have made a surge since they opened Tuesday with +500 odds, the third-best odds behind the favored Chargers and the incumbent Patriots.
Right after the news came out regarding Belichick’s ouster, they moved to +400 but still sat behind the Chargers and the then-favorite option of Belichick not coaching an NFL team in the upcoming season.
The market has since corrected to give the Falcons the best odds, slightly ahead of Belichick not coaching, followed by the Chargers and Commanders.
Atlanta has a strong offensive core featuring Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts, along with a solid defense, but they lack a franchise quarterback.
However, the NFC South is quite winnable.
The Chargers provide Belichick with a franchise quarterback, but having to navigate past Patrick Mahomes for the final few years of his career may not appeal to Belichick.
The Commanders provide Belichick the potential to choose his own franchise quarterback, but that roster is lacking talent and the NFC East is tough.
The Titans are the only other team with odds less than 10/1, and the Jets and Giants are both on the list despite not having openings at the moment.
