Men like big butts and they cannot lie.
Butt-boosting workouts will be the hottest fitness trend for men in 2024, fitness and fashion experts predict.
Building a bigger booty, whether it be naturally or surgically, has typically been a goal for women, but men are increasingly interested in focusing on their glutes.
The experts have already noted a rise in men’s interest in their rear ends — and the trend is only expected to grow stronger in 2024.
“More guys are looking to build the strength and size of their glutes now,” certified strength and conditioning specialist Gareth Sapstead confirmed to Men’s Health.
It’s not just their workouts that are changing, either: men are upgrading their closets to accentuate the gain in their glutes.
Last year, Rhone, a popular men’s fitness clothing brand, saw sales of their slim Commuter pants jump 55%, and sales of the skinny version increase 33%.
“Our Commuter pants take design cues from our athletic shorts that flatter, not flatten, the glutes, and we use four-way-stretch materials with no bunching,” Ben Checketts, cofounder and creative director of Rhone, told Men’s Health. “No diaper butt.
“Guys now expect their work pants to fit and move the same way their gym clothes do.”
The gluteal group of muscles that make up the buttock area consists of the gluteus maximus, gluteus medius and gluteus minimus.
The gluteus maximus is the largest and most powerful muscle in the human body and has an important role in any form of movement.
“Men need to understand working out their glutes will aid their masculine posture. And if you are into sports, developed glutes will improve your functionality, making you stronger, run faster, jump high, improve acceleration, dynamics, and overall motion agility,” Martin Obonyo, manager of the BornFit Gym in Nairobi, told Business Daily Africa.
Weak glutes can lead to a long list of injuries, aches and pains throughout the body.
Bulky butts, meanwhile, are a sign of both a show of strength and a show-off.
“You can hide a lack of abs, but you can’t hide if you have a pancake butt!” Sapestead noted.
