The Issue: President Biden’s order restricting asylum claims for migrants crossing southern border.
So after years of incessantly claiming that he didn’t have the power to close the border and allowing millions of illegal migrants into the country, President Biden has signed an executive order to close the border (“Joe’s New Fake Fix,” Editorial, June 5).
After all the talk of Donald Trump destroying the country, now we know what a destructive president really looks in Biden. He has been giving the middle finger to the American people from his first day in office.

Joe Biden’s border crackdown isn’t even a Band-Aid fix. It’s riddled with holes and is nothing but a political stunt.
We need to be deporting illegal immigrants, not allowing 1 million to enter in a year. And those who do enter illegally should be detained in order to determine if they’re a security risk.
In reality, Biden does not want a secure border. But since he’s lagging behind Donald Trump in the polls, he’s putting on a façade for votes.

Drowning in the polls over the southern-border invasion he instigated, Biden does what he does best — blame Trump and Republicans.
The emperor has no clothes and is desperate for a fig leaf, but can’t shake the three-plus-year mantra of “the border is secure” despite 10 million-plus migrants flooding our country.
Once again, Trump was right. It’s past time for Joe to go.

It’s amazing that President Biden keeps saying that the Republicans voted against fixing the border and that is why he is now acting.
Excuse me, Joe: I believe that it was you who brought about this crisis in the first place. It was you who reversed all of former President Donald Trump’s sound policies — from energy to the border.
It was you who welcomed migrants into the country. It was you who declared month after month that there was no crisis. But now, with the elections around the corner, suddenly you’re going to take matters into your own hands.
President Biden, you have done nothing but lie to the American people — and yourself — about this crisis.

The Issue: Fresh scrutiny of New York’s sanctuary-city policies after a migrant allegedly shot two NYPD officers.
Finally, Mayor Adams and others at New York City Hall are voicing the opinion of many New Yorker’s (“Post right on amnesty: Eric,” June 6).
We need to end New York’s sanctuary city status. Sure, most of us agree, immigrants are what made this city. How many of us have grandparents and parents who came here for a better life?
However, the Biden administration has allowed millions of undocumented people into our country. Now, crime is at such a height that two NYPD officers have been shot. We need to support politicians who want to stop lawlessness.

The Post nailed it with its front page headline (“We are suckers,” June 3).
Our inane sanctuary policy has fueled moped gangs, shoplifting, violence and now two cops getting shot by a migrant.
We can thank the progressive City Council members who couldn’t care less for NYPD officers, as evidenced by their weak law-enforcement policies.
We need to demonstrate in front of City Hall to pressure leaders to rescind sanctuary policies. If not, more cops will be shot — and possibly killed. As a lifelong New Yorker and retired member of the NYPD, I am appalled by the state of the city today.
