Scherzer delivered a season with a 13-6 record, sporting a 3.77 ERA and 1.12 WHIP across 27 starts. His underlying metrics paint an even more impressive picture, with a 3.28 xERA and a .205 xBA.
Although Cristian Javier had a somewhat turbulent season, his recent strong outing against the Minnesota Twins in the ALDS showcased his potential. During that game, he blanked the opposition for five innings and conceded only one hit.
Looking back to the regular season, Javier has accumulated a 2-1 record with a 2.45 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP over his last five starts. Notably, three out of these five starts saw eight or fewer total runs scored.
