After losing 42-31 at home to Texas State last weekend, the Baylor Bears find themselves as 7.5-point underdogs in Waco against the Utah Utes.
It is always risky to bet against a home underdog in college football, but it is hard to believe in Baylor after what it put on the field last weekend. I think the Utes pull away and cover in this one.
Utah never let Florida gain any traction in its Week 1 win. The Utes’ run game was solid, backup quarterback Bryson Barnes added passing and rushing touchdowns, and their defense showed out with an interception and allowing just 13 yards rushing to the Gators. While it seems unlikely Cam Rising will play, Utah should still be able to move the ball against a Baylor defense that looks much worse than Florida’s defense.
The Bears will also start a backup QB today after it was announced that starter Blake Shapen will miss time with an MCL injury. Enter Sawyer Robertson, who threw for 113 yards and a pick against Texas State. Robertson playing adds another level of difficulty, because he has very little playing experience and that could be a bad sign against a salty Utes defense.
