After two exciting shootouts in Phoenix over the weekend, the Suns-Nuggets second-round series returns to the Front Range for game five tonight in Denver.
BetMGM Sportsbook favors the Nuggets by 6.5 points, but I’m more interested in tonight’s total, which BetMGM has set at 227.5 points. I like the under for this game because I don’t see the same level of offensive production replicated yet again in game five.
What we saw in game five was absolutely outstanding, but not the norm. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant each scored 36 points for Phoenix (with Booker shooting an absurd 14-18 from the floor), while Nikola Jokic dropped 53 points for Denver. It was peak NBA basketball as superstars showed why they are the best in the world.
That doesn’t mean it will repeat tonight, though. Booker shot 34-43 overall in the two games in Phoenix this series, and even though he is an excellent player, it’s hard to see that type of efficiency continue. He could have a great game and score 30 points on 50% from the floor and it would still be a decent drop off.
Phoenix probably won’t get the same type of performance from its bench in game five, either. The Suns got 40 points from their bench in the previous game and it seems very unlikely that will happen again.
This game also doesn’t have to be a rock fight to hit the under, either, since a final score like 114-112 would get the job done. Expect some level of offensive regression from both teams and take the under on BetMGM Sportsbook with with bonus code NYPMATCH.
