The dust has settled and two teams remain in the Eastern Conference playoffs: the same two teams who were in the Eastern Conference Finals last year. We get another postseason matchup between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics, and hopefully it’s just as competitive as last season’s seven-game classic.
BetMGM lists the total of this game at 210.5 total points and that feels a bit too low. I understand that Miami typically plays low-scoring, defensive games, but this number is too low for a game involving the Celtics.
The Heat are a great defensive team, but they aren’t playing the New York Knicks anymore. Jayson Tatum literally just scored 51 points the last time he played, Jaylen Brown is averaging 24.6 points per game in the playoffs, and three other Celtics are also scoring in double figures this postseason.
Even though Miami may be able to limit Boston, it won’t completely shut the Celtics down. The Heat will still have to keep pace offensively because Boston just has too much talent. Look at what happened in Miami’s first-round matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks where the lowest-scoring game was 121-99. Jimmy Butler and the Heat had to reach higher scoring totals because they knew they couldn’t just clamp down on a talented team like Milwaukee.
