The No. 1 Michigan Wolverines take on the No. 2 Washington Huskies tonight in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game to close out the season.
BetMGM has the over/under at 55.5 points. I’m leaning towards the over because Washington should have some success against Michigan’s defense and the Wolverines will be able to move the ball on the Huskies.
Michael Penix Jr. and Washington have been able to score in every big game this season. The Huskies scored in the mid-30s against Oregon twice and finished with 37 points against Texas in the Sugar Bowl. Maybe Washington hits a few more snags against a really good Michigan defense, but it won’t get stopped in its tracks.
On the other side, Michigan should be able to go up and down the field against Washington. The Huskies’ defense is solid, but the Wolverines have effectively ran the ball against tough defenses all season and should be able to again tonight. Add in a few big plays from J.J. McCarthy and this game could turn into a shootout.
