Abreu has hit two home runs through Boston’s first five games, sporting a Major League-best 1.364 slugging percentage.

It’s a small sample size, but his barrel rate (27.3 percent) and sweet-spot rate (54.4) are off the charts.

Abreu will step into the box against the Orioles’ Charlie Morton, who has been one of the most homer-prone pitchers of the last few years.

Since 2022, Morton is allowing 1.16 home runs per nine innings pitched, which is the 11th-most in baseball among pitchers with 500 innings on the mound over that period.

In his Orioles debut on Mar. 28 against the Blue Jays, Morton didn’t allow a homer, lasted just 3 1/3 innings, and allowed four earned runs and seven hits.
