NextImg:Bethenny Frankel Tells ‘Live With Kelly & Mark’ About Squashing Her Beef With ‘RHONY’ Alum Jill Zarin: “Reality Television Is Not a Nurturing Space for Any Relationship”

Bethenny Frankel shocked diehard Bravo fans earlier this week when she reunited with frenemy and former Real Housewives of New York City co-star Jill Zarin on her ReWives podcast.

On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the Skinnygirl Cocktails founder reflected on their “breakthrough” moment — which, according to her, came much more easily outside of the reality TV-verse.

“Reality television is not a nurturing space for any relationship — it’s a destructive space for relationships,” Frankel told Mark Consuelos and guest-host Maria Menounos. “So with all that behind us and with no agenda and with no, ‘I have to look bad so you can look good’ — no Hunger Games.”

She continued, “It’s not The Hunger Games — which is what reality TV is and the Running of the Bulls and all those metaphors.”

While the women were best buds in the early seasons of the Bravo show, their relationship took a turn in Season 3 when Frankel accused Zarin of being jealous of her success with Skinnygirl as well as her spinoff series, Bethenny Getting Married. Frankel ended up leaving after the season, before returning in Season 7 — and exiting for good in 2019. Meanwhile, Zarin departed the show after Season 4.

The podcast episode marks the first time they’ve been one-on-one in 13 years — and they were finally able to squash their beef.

“We totally let that go and clarified things, too — and made it clean and nice,” Frankel said. “You can redefine a relationship. It cannot pick up where it was then 20 years ago, it just can evolve into something different. I like things being clean. I do like that. I don’t like angst. You just want things being nice.”

Frankel added that it was “nice to be older, wiser [and] in different relationships.”

Cheers to making amends!
