The Milwaukee Bucks close out the regular season with a two-game road trip starting in Oklahoma City tonight, but they’ll be without their top two players against the Thunder.
With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard both sidelined, OKC is favored by 14.5 points tonight. That’s a big spread, but it makes sense with those two out against one of the best teams in the league.
Josh Giddey is the only potential absence for a Thunder team that still has incentive to win because they could still get the second seed in the Western Conference. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is easily the best player on the floor tonight (30.4 PPG, 6.7 APG, 2.1 SPG) and Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren probably round out the top three. Plus, OKC’s bench is far better than the Bucks’ bench.
Having to play without Giannis is one thing, but not having Dame just makes everything so much harder. Lillard consistently scores 20-plus points each game and Khris Middleton (15.0 PPG) just hasn’t been dynamic enough to replace his scoring output this season. Bobby Portis has played well in April (19.8 PPG this month, 50% from deep), so maybe he keeps this closer, but going into a game vs. the Thunder with Middleton and Portis as your top offensive options seems like a losing proposition.
