Leah Smith, a 22-year-old TikToker known for openly sharing her struggle with a rare form of bone cancer has died, her boyfriend Andrew announced.
Smith, of Liverpool, England, suffered from stage four Ewing sarcoma — which afflicts just 225 under-18s per year here in the United States, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Smith appeared “beautiful as ever” hours before her passing on Monday, loved ones posted to her channel, which had amassed over 500,000 followers at the time of her passing.
“I just want to say thank you to everyone,” Andrew said in a video, telling followers of her death.
“All your comments did help, she did actually read all of them. Anyone who said anything nice ever, it means more than you realize,” he shared.
Smith appeared to have been preparing for the worst, even celebrating being “some[how] still alive” at the end of 2023.

As winter progressed, her stage four condition took a turn for the worse, sending Smith to hospital for weeks.
However, even throughout her recent treatments, Smith would keep a positive persona.
She delightedly showed off how her mom and best friend Vikki, who took over her TikTok page at times, had decorated her hospital room.
Smith shared a heartbreaking update on February 18th, telling followers that “the doctors have said there’s no point trying to give me more antibiotics and fluids because it just isn’t working anymore.”
“All the pain meds aren’t working so they really just want to get me to a comfortable state as much as possible.”
Smith was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma in 2019 according to the Manchester Evening News.

The American Cancer Society reports that between 63% and 82% of people survive 5 years following prognosis.
“This isn’t a goodbye just a goodnight, rest peacefully in that beautiful sunflower field and I’ll see you again one day, my gorgeous best friend,” Vikki wrote in wake of Smith’s passing.
“leah smith will always own a special place in our hearts i’ve always looked up to her,” a follower commented on the sad news.
