The 27-year-old pass-rusher is in the last year of his contract.
Sweat was originally selected by Washington with the No. 26 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
The Bears are surprising buyers at the trade deadline, given they are currently 2-6 and near the bottom of the league.
Sweat, though, has 6.5 sacks this season and the Bears as a team have 10.5.
The Bears have given permission to their top cornerback Jaylon Johnson to seek a trade, so it could be a busy day in Chicago.
