NextImg:Be Best: Amazon's Melania Trump documentary will premiere in theaters in January 2026

Just over a year after Amazon revealed its plans for a documentary on Melania Trump, Amazon has revealed the release date of the picture hailing from director Brett Ratner.

On Thursday, Amazon MGM Studios announced that the feature-length film, titled Melania, will hit theaters on Jan. 30, 2026 in the U.S. and select territories overseas. Per Variety, the film will ultimately stream on Prime Video; it is not currently known when the film will stream on Prime.

Promising “unprecedented access to the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration — through the eyes of the First Lady-elect herself,” the film will invite viewers “inside Melania Trump’s world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and reenters public life with her family.”

“With exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments, Melania showcases Mrs. Trump’s return to one of the world’s most powerful roles,” the studio’s description adds.

This term marks Melania’s second as First Lady alongside her husband, President Donald Trump.

Puck News reported in January that Amazon had spent $40 million on the licensing rights to the film, which Melania herself is a producer on alongside Fernando Sulichin. Meanwhile Ratner, who was accused of sexual harassment in 2017, has not been credited on a project since 2019, per IMDb.

According to Deadline, those behind the film are also wrapping up a three-part docuseries that accompanies it.

Melania made headlines this week after HarperCollins UK released a statement about Andrew Lownie’s book Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York. According to NBC News, the book, which is an unauthorized biography of Prince Andrew, said that Jeffrey Epstein “facilitated” Melania and Donald’s first meeting.

In the statement that Melania shared on Tuesday (Oct. 7), HarperCollins UK wrote that they “have, in consultation with the author, removed several passages of the book that referenced unverified claims about the First Lady of the United States Melania Trump.”

“Copies of the book that include those references are being permanently removed from distribution,” the statement continued. “HarperCollins UK apologizes to the First Lady.”
