Former NFL defensive back Bashaud Breeland was arrested in North Carolina and faces a litany of drug and weapons charges.
Breeland, who won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs, was accused of possessing a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV, several firearms — including two AK-47s and two AR-15s — 62 grams of suspected illegal mushrooms and five pounds of marijuana, CBS affiliate WBTV reported, citing a report from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Early Tuesday morning, Breeland got booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail.
He was released on $30,000 bond.
In addition to charges on the drugs and the stolen vehicle, Breeland is charged with altering serial numbers, altering a title and possession of a stolen firearm.
Breeland played in the NFL from 2014-21, playing for the Commanders, Packers, Chiefs and Vikings.
He won a Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2020.
Breeland had agreed to a three-year deal in 2018 with the Panthers worth a total of $24 million, but the deal got nullified when he failed his physical.
“I lost a deal with them during a rocky time in my career, and it’s back home,” Breeland said at the time.
“So it’ll be a lot of hurdles that I’d jump just by playing for that one team.”
He appeared in 107 games in his NFL career, with 101 starts, and had 16 interceptions, 10 forced fumbles and 63 combined tackles.
