Barack Obama‘s got Prime Video‘s Swarm on his watch list.
While sitting down with comedian Hasan Minhaj, the former president discussed his daughter Malia‘s involvement with the show, where she worked as a writer.
“Mr. President, have you watched the show?” Minhaj asked his guest.
“I watched it because, A) I was a big fan of Atlanta,” Obama shared, referring to series producer Donald Glover, who created Atlanta years before Swarm.
Obama added, “And I watched it because my daughter worked on it. So, of course, I’ve got to watch it.”
Minhaj then continued to ask him if he saw the pilot, which he points out features a “spicy sex scene” that occurs occurs “three minutes in” between Khalid (Damson Idris) and Marissa (Chloe Bailey), while Dre (Dominique Fishback) watches.
“Look, if what you are suggesting is that there are aspects of that show that I found a little disturbing,” Obama began,“that’s the nature of art these days, and at [this] moment, and that’s OK.”
Minhaj continued to joke with the president, saying that he imagined when he watched the scene, “[his] face was like the face [he] made when [he] took out [Osama] bin Laden.”
“So this was you when you watched the pilot episode of Swarm,” he quipped, pulling out a picture of Obama with other political figures in D.C. from May 2011, monitoring the capturing of bin Laden.

“And this was the First Lady’s face watching the pilot episode of Swarm,” he continued, pointing to Hillary Clinton in the same picture, who had her hand over her mouth in disbelief.
Obama cracked up, as Minhaj exclaimed, “I didn’t know they were doing that in Hollywood!”
Malia Obama joined the Swarm writers room early on in production, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, which is based on “stan culture” through the lens of Beyoncé and her “Beyhive,” also features singer Billie Eilish and Paris Jackson, among others.
The first season of Swarm is available to stream on Prime Video. Watch Obama’s chat with Minhaj in the video above.
