Baker Mayfield and wife, Emily Wilkinson Mayfield, snuck in a sunny California getaway to celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary before the start of Buccaneers training camp on July 30.
Mayfield, 28, and Emily, 32, tied the knot in July 2019 after getting engaged just six months after they met in 2017 when the couple was introduced by a mutual friend.
The NFL quarterback has had a tumultuous career since getting selected first overall in the 2018 draft by the Browns and Emily has been by his side through all the ups and downs.
“Happy 4 year anniversary to my sweet husband. These last few years we have grown in so many ways, and I am SO proud of where we are in our marriage,” Wilkinson commented on an Instagram video she posted on Monday.
The video captures the couple’s weekend away at the Terranea Resort in Southern California, showing clips of them golfing, enjoying sunset cocktails, watching a movie on the beach and many date night dinners.
With the 2023 NFL season approaching, Mayfield and Emily even hit the gym while on their mini-vacation.
Wilkinson, a social media influencer with more than 200,000 followers on Instagram, has been Mayfeild’s No. 1 supporter while he tries to get his career back on track in Tampa, looking to fill the QB1 position after Tom Brady’s retirement.
Mayfield was ultimately pushed out of Cleveland in July 2022 after suffering a torn labrum in October 2021 and seeing his performance decline despite leading the club to its first playoff victory in 26 years in 2020.
The former Oklahoma star spent just under a season with Carolina before requesting a move and landing with the Rams where he said he was able to “hit the reset button” for his career.
“I’m a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. It was the first time I had fun playing football in a few years,” Mayfield said of his time with the Rams.
“It brought that feeling of having that success and really remembering what it was all about, Kind of hit the reset button for me.”
Following a short stint in LA, Mayfield signed a one-year, $8.5 million deal with Tampa Bay this March and is aiming to be the backbone of the Bucs’ offense in his sixth year in the league.
While it’s still to be seen if he’ll beat out Kyle Trask for the starting job, one thing’s for sure: Wilkinson will be there to cheer him on no matter what.
