It’s a lonely life when you’re The View‘s only Swiftie. And yet, Alyssa Farah Griffin bravely soldiers on day after day. The show hit a rather awkward snag this morning when Griffin excitedly pointed out a Taylor Swift nod in Jason Kelce‘s NFL retirement speech, only to be met with total disinterest from the rest of the Hot Topics panel.
Moderator Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the chat about Kelce’s tearful goodbye by playing a clip of his speech, which he made yesterday (March 4) during a Philadelphia Eagles press conference.
At one point in his remarks, Jason gave an emotional shout-out to his brother Travis Kelce, who has been dating Swift for months now in a very public romance.
“There is no chance I’d be here without the bond Travis and I share,” Jason said, adding, “It’s only too poetic I found my career be fulfilled in the City of Brotherly Love. I knew that relationship all too well.”
Before Goldberg could even pose a question about Jason’s speech, Griffin piped up, “We have a Taylor Swift reference there, I’d like to note,” with her finger raised in the air.
The rest of the panel remained quiet, with a few scattered laughs. But Griffin — who has proven she’s a true fan girl with both her undying love for Nikki Haley and her ongoing devotion to Swift — forged on.
While clearly nobody had, Griffin bravely asked, “Did anyone else catch that? ‘All too well?'”
Joy Behar, 100% not catching anything Swift-coded, asked Griffin, “What did he say, what did he say?”
Confidence faltering a bit, Griffin replied, “I think it was a Taylor Swift reference,” before gesturing to Goldberg and telling her, “But go on.”

Not so fast! Unfortunately for Griffin, the panel was still puzzled, and they weren’t going to let her move on until they got answers.
“What is it, all too well?” Sunny Hostin asked, and when Griffin explained to her that “All Too Well” is a track from Swift herself, Hostin cocked her head and frowned, before cutting her co-host some slack and breaking into a laugh.
Sara Haines, The View‘s resident sweetie, offered Griffin a lifeline when she suggested, “It was a wink and a nod,” but Behar was less forgiving: “It’s three words put together,” she said bluntly.
Hostin spoke the obvious when she proclaimed, “We have, like, one Swiftie the table.”
And if today’s episode was any indication, the count is unlikely to go up any time soon.
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
