Police are still trying to access “phone downloads” between a high school teacher and the 15-year-old child she allegedly groomed, a court has heard.

Chelsea Jane Edwards, 28, a teacher at Indooroopilly State High School in Brisbane, Australia was charged in March with two counts of grooming and one count of indecent treatment of a child under 16.

Police allege in court documents Edwards had contact with the child on various occasions from July to September 2022, when the grooming offenses allegedly began.

Edwards allegedly “willfully exposed” the child to an indecent photo in September.

The documents further allege she engaged in conduct with the intent to “procure” the child to engage in a sexual act in Queensland between July 7 and September 14, 2022.

Edwards did not appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court when her matter was briefly mentioned on Monday.

Edwards’ solicitor, Alex Somers, told the court he was still waiting for the full brief of evidence to be handed over from police.

The Director of Public Prosecutions prosecutor told the court that officers were still trying to access “phone downloads” of Edwards and the alleged victim “together.”

The court heard the arresting officer was also still to give a full statement but was currently on leave.

Magistrate Mark Nolan ordered the downloads and the full brief of evidence be disclosed to the defense by June 26.

Edwards remains on bail after she was ordered to hand over her passport to police in March.

According to the school’s website, Edwards acted as a sports co-ordinator.
