The Yankees got a little help from a fan on Sunday — and then provided something everyone could enjoy.
During the sixth inning of the Yankees’ 6-1 win over the Astros, Houston slugger Yordan Alvarez floated a fly ball to left field and rookie Everson Pereira settled under it, only to be thwarted by a Houston fan who reached over the railing in an attempt to make the catch.
After the fan was called for interference, giving the Yankees the final out of the inning, ESPN found the fan for what instantly became a classic interview.
“I’m out here with my son, this is our first-ever game. We just moved here to Houston literally in January, and I just wanted to make the moment special for him. As a father, I feel like it’s my job to give him the best moments,” the fan said with his arm around Buster Olney.
“I apologize to the Astros organization, I didn’t know, ya’ll gotta understand, when it’s dropping down it looks like it’s coming directly to you. So I reached, and my body went for what I know. But we did have a wonderful moment.”
Understandably, some Astros fans around him had questions.
“The reaction was, shock, disgust, happiness, sweat, a little bit of lust, baby. I was in there feeling kind of hurt for my fingers still, shaking a little bit,” the fan said. “The ball is way heavier with the gravity.
“Truthfully, Houston loves me and I love Houston. They cannot stop me from supporting the asteroids … Salute to the organization, great staff, they made sure that I was healthy and I was enjoying the game, they wasn’t even making it serious.”

The Yankees swept a series in Houston for the first time in 10 years, powered by strong performances from their rookies.
Hyped prospect Jasson Dominguez launched two homers on the weekend, including one during his first major league at-bat.
