Argentina didn’t have Lionel Messi for extra time after their star exited with a gruesome ankle injury.
But they still had Lautaro Martínez, who scored his Copa America-leading fifth goal in the 112th minute to help Argentina defeat Colombia, 1-0, in the title game Sunday night in Miami.
It was a strange backdrop for the tournament, as fans — both with and without tickets — rushed the gates outside Hard Rock Stadium, climbed fences and even tried to crawl through vents.
Still, after a lengthy scoreless stretch to start the match, Argentina managed to clinch its second consecutive Copa America title.
