What could possibly go wrong?
Former Raiders wide receiver Antonio Brown, who has made headlines the last two years for all the wrong reasons, is coming to the aid of current (and estranged) Raiders defensive end Chandler Jones, who has made a string of disturbing social media posts over the last two months.
Brown tweeted Thursday he that he loves Jones and is heading to Las Vegas to see him.
That came after Jones, 33, posted a concerning video via Instagram Live that ended with him crying and talking about Raiders coach Josh McDaniels and former Patriots teammate Aaron Hernandez, who took his own life in prison after being convicted of murder.
Brown then tweeted a follow-up message Thursday indicating his trip to visit Jones is legitimate.
“I will be mending the gap @Raiders @chanjones55 we can do it let’s get him back on squid games, let him play allow him opportunity to level up his outburst just held in pent up aggression he got presidential blood line of Geechy,” Brown wrote. “You never know what we individually been through……CTE.”
Brown also shared a screen grab Thursday purportedly showing him and Jones having a FaceTime conversation.
Jones has gone on a series of rants both on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram in recent weeks while he has been away from the Raiders.
Most recently, Jones claimed he was forced into a mental hospital and injected with an unknown substance by the Las Vegas Fire Department.
A four-time Pro Bowl selection, Jones signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Raiders last year.
Previously, he spent six seasons with the Cardinals.
Before that, Jones won a Super Bowl ring during his four years with the Patriots.
His social media saga started as a dispute between player and team, with Jones complaining about a lack of gym access earlier this month.
But now it has blown up, and that’s where Brown, 35, enters the picture.
The former All-Pro receiver also has a history of making questionable decisions and controversial social media content.
On Monday, Brown posted disturbing tweets, comparing Steelers offensive coordinator Matt Canada to Adolf Hitler.
Before that, there was his short-lived tenure as owner of the National Arena League’s Albany Empire, which allegedly included threatening three players with a gun.
The last time Brown was on the field for an NFL game was against the Jets at MetLife Stadium in January 2022, when he took off his jersey and bolted for the locker room during the second half of the game.
Brown spent the first nine of his 12 NFL seasons in Pittsburgh, establishing himself as one of the best wide receivers in the game, collecting seven Pro Bowl selections and earning All-Pro honors four times.
While both Brown and Jones have played for the Patriots and Raiders, they were never teammates.
