If you care about keeping up with awards season, you simply have to watch Anora. Luckily for you, Anora is releasing on digital platforms this week.
Written and directed by Sean Baker (Tangerine, The Florida Project, Red Rocket), Anora has been one of the buzziest films of 2024 since it premiered at Cannes in May, to near-universal critical acclaim. Baker is known for shining a light on pockets of working-class America, and Anora is no exception.
This comedy takes viewers to the Brooklyn neighborhood of Brighton Beach, home to a large community of Russian-speaking immigrants. Mikey Madison stars as Anora—or Ani, as she goes by—who is an exotic dancer in the area. Ani speaks some Russian, thanks to her grandmother. She’s therefore tasked with taking care of a VIP client, Vanya (Mark Eydelshteyn), the son of a wealthy Russian oligarch who visits her strip club. Ani and Vanya hit it off, and fall into a whirlwind romance. But this isn’t the Cinderella story that Ani was hoping for.
Anora is currently a front-runner for Best Picture at the 2025 Oscars, and it is not to be missed. Here’s what you need to know about where to watch Anora online and when we expect to see Anora streaming free on Hulu.
Anora will be released on premium video-on-demand, to buy and rent, on Tuesday, December 17.
Beginning at 12 a.m. Eastern Time on December 17 (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on December 16) the Anora movie will be available to buy and rent on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $19.99 to buy.
Anora will be available to rent on digital platforms like Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu, and more, beginning on December 17. The movie will cost $5.99 to rent, and you’ll have 48 hours to watch the movie after hitting “play.”
Anora is not yet available on a subscription streaming service, but we do expect to see Anora streaming on Hulu eventually, because Anora is a Neon movie, and most Neon movies tend to go to Hulu, thanks to the Hulu and Neon output deal.

Unless the final stage of the Disney+ and Hulu merger finally happens, you’ll likely see Anora streaming on Hulu in early 2025. Another Neon horror movie, Immaculate, began streaming on Hulu about five months after it opened in theaters. If Anora follows a similar release pattern, you may see Anora on Hulu around March 2025.
On the other hand, another Neon release, It Lives Inside, began streaming on Hulu just three months after opening in theaters—so it’s not a hard and fast rule. Because of the buzz surrounding Anora, we suspect it will be a slightly longer wait. That said, it’s possible Neon will want to push the movie onto Hulu sooner, to hype up the title for the Oscar race.
It’s all speculation right now. If you want to stream Anora at home, you can buy or rent the movie on digital platforms tomorrow.
