Peacock‘s new thriller series Hysteria has it all: exorcisms, murders, kidnappings, contentious parent-child relationships, and romance. As outcast Dylan Campbell (Emjay Anthony) strikes up a fling with the cool girl in school Judith (Jessica Treska), we couldn’t help but notice the undeniable chemistry between another pairing in the show: Jordy (Chiara Aurelia) and Faith (Nikki Hahn).
The teenage girls clearly come from different backgrounds, with Jordy being outspoken, crass at times, and goth, while Faith was raised under the strict rule of her religious mother Tracy (Anna Camp). Their friendship is strained at the beginning of the season, largely due to Tracy’s disapproval of Jordy. But Faith works tirelessly to get back on Jordy’s good side, not only by forcing her to go to the homecoming dance with her, but also by defying her mother and bringing her home for dinner. Plus, Faith refuses to plant the evidence of Ryan Hudson’s murder in Jordy’s room, which her mother and The Reverend had asked her to do in order to cover up their involvement in his death.
While nothing happens between Jordy and Faith in the first season, some may argue that there is certainly some romantic chemistry between them. I mean, you can’t deny that Faith’s prolonged stares at Jordy might hold some significance!

However, creator, executive producer, and writer Matthew Scott Kane told DECIDER that he didn’t quite intend for that to come across when he was writing the characters.
“I don’t know that that was ever what we expected people to get from it,” he said, before adding, “But nothing is off limits going forward.“
David A. Goodman, who also wrote and executive produced Hysteria, added, “I mean, you had two great actors there who found a relationship and elevated what was on the page. And so people can see what they want.”
Meanwhile, there was one person on the cast who was ready to ship them as a couple. Camp, who plays Faith’s mother in the show, said she was “kind of into that, actually.”
It sounds like we’ll just have to wait for Peacock to renew the series for Season 2 to see where this friendship goes!
Hysteria is currently streaming on Peacock.
