Angelica Ross is calling Ryan Murphy‘s bluff. The Pose star recently revealed that the American Horror Story creator had reached out to her with the proposition of an AHS season featuring a cast led by Black women, but ultimately left her on read after she replied.

On Monday (Sept. 18), Ross posted a screenshot of an email to X (the platform formerly known as Twitter), which Murphy allegedly sent her on July 3, 2020.

“Remember your idea about a HORROR season starring black women?” Murphy allegedly wrote at the time. “Well I’m doing it. Not sure of the story yet, but we will start a writers room in the fall.”

He continued, “Along with you, who are the four women I should get? I think you, Keke Palmer, Gabby… not sure of the fourth?”

Ross’ response is also shown in the screenshot, which appears to be sent the same day.

Ross began her reply with an enthusiastic “YAAAAAASSSSS!,” followed by multiple recommendations of Black actresses, including herself, Palmer, Debbi Morgan, Angela Bassett, Amiyah Scott, Gabrielle Union, Viola Davis, Lupita Nyong’o, Halle Berry and Kerry Washington.

Ross, who starred in AHS Seasons 9 and 10, also posted a TikTok on X, which features a screenshot of her alleged follow-up email sent on Feb. 7, 2022. In the email, she told Murphy that she was “thinking about what [AHS] season 11’s focus could be,” and asked him if she could be considered to be “on the producing side as well.”

“I think I could add a lot to the table in the overall storyline if we are still looking to do a Black lead cast,” she wrote.

However, Ross said she never heard another word from Murphy on the potential project.

“After not hearing back,” she wrote on X. “After sending flowers and no response I sent one last email in Feb 2022 (it took about a year to film season 10 due to COVID) while still contractually in first position with the show.”

She also alleged that Marvel had called her twice with opportunities for her — following three years of auditions — but could not give them an answer in anticipation of an update on the prospective AHS season.

“It’s that I was HELD in first position the whole time,” she added.

Decider reached out to Murphy’s representative for comment but did not hear back by time of publication.

As a Black and trans advocate, Ross expressed how various figures and programs in the entertainment industry are “pinning Black issues against trans issues as if they’re mutually exclusive, and they are not.”

“I’m still waiting to be accepted into the fold because we got some stories to tell together,” she said.
