NextImg:Angel Reese throws out first pitch at Orioles game fresh off ESPY win

LSU women’s basketball star Angel Reese got the chance to show off her pitching on Tuesday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards.

Reese — a Maryland native — threw out the first pitch prior to her hometown Baltimore Orioles taking on the Los Angels Dodgers.

Reese threw the ceremonial pitch a tad high to the Orioles’ mascot, who had set up behind the plate.

Her pitch did make it into The Oriole Bird’s glove, however.

While Reese, 21, helped lead her LSU Tigers to a national championship earlier this year by defeating Caitlin Clarke and Iowa, her presence wasn’t enough to help the Orioles pull out a win.

They fell 10-3 to the Dodgers on Tuesday night.

Reese, who played her first two college seasons at the University of Maryland, has been quite busy since becoming a national champion and has spent the past few days around her hometown.

She was honored with a basketball court named in her honor, and earlier in the day on Tuesday, Reese was given a key to the city of Baltimore.

“A moment right now for the girls that look up to me, and be unapologetically me, not standing in a box, breaking the narrative of being able to be a Black woman in sports, standing your ground, hopefully it gives hope to boys and girls, and hopefully I can run it back next year,” Reese said, according to CBS News

Reese has had a whirlwind offseason after winning the national title with LSU.

Reese had been at the ESPY Awards last week, where she took home “Best Breakthrough Athlete” honors and teamed up with the Cavinder twins for a TikTok video.

The forward is coming off a year where she was named Most Outstanding Player of the 2023 Final Four.

Reese averaged 23.0 points and 15.4 rebounds per game while helping lead LSU to a 34-2 record.
