It was a WNBA season filled with “many lessons” for star Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Reese — whose sophomore season recently concluded in dramatic fashion — reflected on the growth she’s experienced while taking in some R&R from a dreamy locale.
“YEAR 2. You taught me so much. You taught me so many lessons. You showed a TON of growth. You fought through SO much adversity. Yet you still PREVAILED, still showed up, and God has a plan for you. This is only the beginning,” Reese wrote on Instagram.
Reese’s message accompanied a highlight reel celebrating her being named Rebounding Leader of 2025. She averaged 12.6 rebounds this season.
A 2024 first-round pick out of LSU, 23-year-old Reese averaged 14.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 30 games with the Sky.
As the sun continued to set on a dreadful year for Chicago — the Sky ultimately finished the season at 10-34 — Reese offered pointed comments about the direction the organization needs to move in.
“I am very vocal about what we need and what I want,” Reese told the Chicago Tribune in early September. “I’d like to be here for my career, but if things don’t pan out, obviously I might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me. But while I am here, I’m going to try to stay open-minded about what I have here and maximize that as much as I can.”
She later apologized to her teammates for the remarks and was suspended by the team for the first half of their 80-66 loss to the Aces on Sept. 7.
The WNBA had previously suspended Reese after logging her eighth technical of the year.
On Reese’s future with the Sky, general manager Jeff Pagliocca said last week, “Until I hear differently, that’s the direction we’re going to move, is that she’s on the roster.”
Reese appears to be unwinding in paradise, posting a handful of swimsuit snaps Tuesday to Instagram.
“Sometimes this is just all you need,” she captioned an Instagram Story overlooking the water. “I’m so grateful & thankful for this life man.”
