NextImg:Angel Reese gives LSU an injury scare in March Madness showdown vs. Iowa

LSU’s quest to reach another Final Four encountered a brief first-half injury scare.

Star forward Angel Reese limped off the court and started riding a bike on the sideline early in the second quarter after blocking Caitlin Clark’s shot and landing awkwardly.

Four minutes into the second frame, Reese was called for a foul after Clark drove toward the basket and Reese attempted to swat the Iowa star’s shot attempt.

But Reese’s momentum carried her off the court and toward a cluster of people underneath the basket, and she hobbled toward the LSU bench without putting any weight on her right ankle.

Reese, though, checked back into the game around a minute of game time later, scored the Tigers’ next basket and blocked a shot, though she appeared to still be limping as she walked toward the scorer’s table and entered the game.

Before the injury scare, Reese had compiled 10 points and six rebounds, with No. 3-seed LSU building a five-point lead over No. 1-seed Iowa after the opening 10 minutes.

Reese added three assists and two steals in the first quarter, too.

LSU and Iowa entered halftime tied at 45 apiece.
