It looks like the newly elected Pope Leo XIV has some fans on The View.

The ladies of The View sang his praises during Monday’s (May 12) broadcast. But Ana Navarro made sure to take shots at President Donald Trump, making it clear that she hopes the new pope will “denounce the things that are happening here” under the Trump administration.

“I’m loving this pope let me tell you,” Navarro announced on the show, later adding, “He speaks perfect Spanish, he speaks seven languages and he speaks those languages to send a message of peace, love, inclusion.”

She continued, “I think it is so timely that we have an American pope because we are going through things in this country and it is good to show the world that not all American leaders are the same.”

Navarro went on to call out Trump’s crackdown on immigration, which Pope Leo XIV also criticized on his personal social media before he became the pope.

“It is good to have an American who can denounce the things that are happening here,” she said. “People are being dragged into the streets, mothers are being separated from their children as they’re breastfeeding. The things that are happening in this country are horrible and I love that it is being called out in English.”

Navarro recently sounded off against the president for sharing a “disrespectful” AI-generated image of himself as the pope on the White House’s official social media page when the papal conclave was set to happen.

The View host said the White House shared it as a “distraction” to keep people from “talking about him not following the Constitution.”

“This is one of the most solemn times in the Catholic Church when they are in the process of selecting a new pope,” she said. “So, all of those devout Catholics that voted for Donald Trump because they thought for some reason that he was a better representation of faith than other folks, I think you need to ask yourselves some questions and I think you need to ask the White House and Donald Trump some questions.”

Navarro doubled down on her impassioned rant against Trump.

“Trump, Mr. President, it’s ‘His Holiness, The Pope.’ Not, ‘His Oiliness, The Dope,’” she said.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
