Ed Sheeran and Alanis Morissette will temporarily replace Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on “American Idol” while they perform at King Charles’ upcoming coronation.

“I can’t wait to guide you through this stage of the competition and career and yeah this is the first time I’ve done this on ‘American Idol,’ I can’t wait to take the iconic ‘American Idol’ stage,” Sheeran said in a video posted to Twitter Monday.

The “Perfect” singer – who will perform his new single live on the show next week – emphasized how excited he is to “meet” the Top 8 contestants and “talk through life and music.”

“American Idol” revealed that Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran will replace Katy Perry and Lionel Richie as judges while they perform at the coronation.

Morissette, 48, seemed equally “excited” in her video announcement and specifically mentioned “hearing your interpretations of my songs” – which contestants will sing after she mentors them.

“Surprise – I’m gonna be guest judging with Luke [Bryan] as well, so I can’t wait to see you next week!” she concluded.

In addition to performing Morissette’s hits, the singers will also pair up to do duets of Sheeran’s songs.

Bryan, 46, recently teased that his co-judges’ replacements were “big time” but kept tight-lipped on the names at the time.

Richie, 73, and Perry, 38, will join Andrea Bocelli to sing their hearts out at King Charles III’s coronation on May 6 at Windsor Castle.

“I’m really excited,” Perry gushed to Extra last week. “I might be posting a lot because I’m gonna be in a castle, for real. This is wild.”

The judges’ break came in the midst of Perry finding herself in hot water for several comments she’s made to contestants during Season 21.

Audience members booed the “Fireworks” songstress last month after she called out Nutsa Buzaladze for wearing too many sequins.

“Nutsa, every time you take the stage it’s like you glitter bomb the stage,” Perry said as the crowd began to boo.

Prior to that, Perry was accused of “mom-shaming” a former contestant – and 25-year-old mother of three – Sara Beth Liebe.

After telling the judges about her children, Perry – who shares a 2-year-old daughter Daisy with fiancé Orlando Bloom – stood up and walked behind the judge’s table as if in utter shock.

“If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m going to pass out,” Liebe said, to which Perry responded, “Honey, you’ve been laying on the table too much.”

Liebe quit the singing competition and later slammed Perry for the “embarrassing” and “hurtful” moment on TikTok.

“I think that women supporting and uplifting other women is so cool and I think that mom-shaming is super lame and I think that it’s hard enough to be a mom and it’s hard enough to be a woman,” she said in the since-deleted video.

“American Idol” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Meanwhile, live coverage of King Charles’ coronation ceremony starts Saturday at 5 a.m ET on CBS.
