The Mets have officially punted on the 2023 season.
David Robertson is gone. Max Scherzer is gone. Mark Canha is gone. Justin Verlander could potentially be gone.
A season that had World Series aspirations has turned into one that won’t even sniff the playoffs.
What a disappointment from top to bottom.
Billy Eppler’s trades, signings and lack of communication with the players has been an atrocity. It would be a shocker if he is still the GM after the season.
Where do the Mets go from here? Will they be going for a championship next season? Are they about to rebuild and make a long-suffering fan base wait even longer for a title?
Lots to discuss on a new episode of the “Amazin’ But True” podcast with Nelson Figueroa and me. We are joined by former Mets GM Jim Duquette.
