Former actress Amanda Bynes has once again shut down her podcast after just one episode — but this time, she says it’s for good.
Bynes shared a statement via her Instagram story, announcing that she is shuttering her brand new podcast to pursue a more “consistent job.” This comes after she already walked back her previous decision to cancel the podcast earlier this week.
She previously announced that she would drop a new episode this Friday (Dec. 22) after she decided to keep the podcast going. But it looks like she is officially ending her podcast endeavor, titled Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast, once and for all.
“I was actually surprised and of course was going to keep going after friends encouraged me to,” she wrote in a statement on her Instagram story.
She continued, “After thinking about it, though, I would rather get my manicurist license and have a consistent job. I’m going to follow that path instead.”
She then thanked her supporters for “following my journey.”
She also shared a post to her TikTok story, saying, “I really don’t know how much I’m going to continue using this.” She had previously used the TikTok account, which already garnered 256.8k followers, to discuss the podcast. All videos and content have since been deleted from the account.
The decision to cancel the podcast comes as a surprise since Bynes recently maintained that she wanted to continue working on her podcast because they “take time to grow.”
She had previously paused the podcast after just one episode because she and her co-host had trouble booking the A-list talent she wanted to interview, she said. “We are not able to get the type of guests that I’d like on the show,” Bynes said, naming the likes of Jack Harlow, Drake, and Post Malone as examples.
Bynes later said that she was “actually really looking forward to filming” the next episode of the podcast, and that she received a lot of support from friends who encouraged her to keep going.
But it looks like the former child actor wants to pursue a different line of work now. It’s been 13 years since Bynes has taken an acting role, with her last appearance being opposite Emma Stone in Easy A.
Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast, which was available both as a podcast and video series, marked her first on-camera appearance since she quit acting.
