We all can’t be perfect — but at least Alyssa Farah Griffin can own up to what makes her a “nightmare” in a relationship.

On this morning’s episode of The View, the panel discussed a husband who kept a list of ways to deal with his wife. According to Joy Behar, who was filling in as moderator for Whoopi Goldberg, he wrote things like, “Don’t talk about her — even things that seem neutral are at risk of being viewed as negative when heard by her,” and, “Don’t share vulnerabilities with her — she doesn’t care and may use them in an insulting attack later.”

Behar concluded that the husband sounds “petrified” of his wife, while Griffin suggested that they consider going to counseling.

“I root for this couple. They might need marriage therapy,” she said. “If he feels like he can’t share his vulnerabilities and has to make a mental note that he can’t, that is not an equal partnership.”

But before she could cast too much judgment on another couple’s relationship, Griffin took a long hard look at herself — and the toxic traits she brings into her own marriage.

“I’m very guilty of the tit-for-tat in a relationship where you start listing off everything you did that day to prove you were more busy than the other person,” she admitted. “That’s not healthy but it can go further. I’ve actually said to my husband, ‘Did you host a nationally televised television show today?'”

Griffin continued, “My poor husband was like, ‘What?’ I’m a nightmare.”

Sunny Hostin, who frequently spars with Griffin during political debates, got a kick out of her co-host’s self-reflection as she laughed out loud. Reverting back to the topic at hand, the lawyer suggested that the wife in the situation might have “a lot of work to do on herself.”

Meanwhile, Ana Navarro chimed in, “This is a nice list. This guy, if he ever makes a list again, he should eat it,” while Behar joked, “His fault was letting her find the list.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
