They say never meet your heroes, and Alyssa Farah Griffin is certainly taking the advice to heart. Griffin, The View‘s resident conservative commentator, revealed on this morning’s show that she was too scared to say hi to comedian Larry David when she spotted him on the street, despite idolizing the Seinfeld creator.

“I think Larry David might be the single funniest living person. I’m a huge fan. I recently saw him on the Upper East Side,” she revealed, before noting, “I’m glad I didn’t say hi because he would not like me because I’m a Republican.”

Joy Behar insisted, “That’s not true,” and told Griffin David wasn’t “like that.” We can take her word for it, but unfortunately, we’ll never really know — unless Griffin runs into David uptown again. Paging Deuxmoi!

Her comments came during a conversation about Walter Isaacson’s Elon Musk biography, which recounts a tense moment between Musk and David at a wedding.

Per Isaacson’s book, David bluntly asked the Tesla CEO, “Do you want to just murder kids in schools?” referring to Musk’s Republican support and the recent Uvalde massacre, which took place just days prior to the wedding, according to Insider.

Musk replied that he is “anti-kid murder,” but David pushed back, “Then how could you vote Republican?”

David is a longtime, outspoken Democrat who infamously feuded with another Republican, Alan Dershowitz, on Martha’s Vineyard in 2021. A Page Six report from the time alleged that David “screamed” at the Trump lawyer while confronting him about his relationship with Mike Pompeo, Trump’s former secretary of state.

“I saw you. I saw you with your arm around Pompeo! It’s disgusting!” David allegedly told Dershowitz, later adding again, “It’s disgusting. Your whole enclave — it’s disgusting. You’re disgusting!”

While we doubt Griffin would receive such a verbal attack from the comedian, we certainly understand her hesitation. In any case, we suggest bringing Behar along for a buffer.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
