Alyssa Farah Griffin shocked her co-hosts on The View by claiming she believed President Trump could win the election again if it were held today, even after the controversial first few months of his administration.
“I’m gonna say something that is gonna make this table and this audience very upset but I want to tell the unvarnished truth,” Griffin announced during Friday’s (Sept. 26) broadcast.
“I think if the election were re-held today, Donald Trump would win by the same, if not a bigger, margin,” she said.
When Joy Behar asked her to explain her point, Griffin said, “This country is so deeply polarized.”
“If you hated him before, you hate him even more now. There are definitely people who are like, ‘Oh, I’m having some buyer’s remorse,” Griffin said. “But there’s this poll today that shows that on the top issues people voted on, they still trust Republicans more.”
She added that she felt the country was split with 48% of Americans identifying as Democrats and 48% of Americans identifying as Republicans, but there’s “this little percentage in the middle that goes either way.”
After Behar later pointed to a poll that showed many voters feel political officials are “more interested in blaming others” than in taking action against gun violence, Griffin completely agreed. She connected it with her earlier point about why voters do not feel adequately represented by their officials.

“People don’t trust that the system is working and being responsive to their needs,” she said. “There is a disconnect between what the American public wants and what politicians are actually willing to do.”
Despite her criticisms, Griffin praised the American government and said she was “proud to live in a Democratic republic.”
“I think this is the best form of government in the history of mankind,” she said, which Behar and Haines agreed with.
However, she noted, “Democracies are fragile we all have to be invested in them.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
