Alyssa Farah Griffin just wanted to get a word in on this morning’s episode of The View, but she was so enthusiastic with her comments that she may have forgotten to wait her turn. The conservative commentator got fired up during a discussion about the United States’ immigration policies and changes under President Donald Trump, including his recently announced $5 million “gold card” to offer citizenship opportunities to the wealthiest of immigrants.
While discussing the “gold card” on this morning’s show — which Trump said would bring in “wealthy people” who would be “spending a lot of money and paying a lot of taxes and employing a lot of people” — Griffin said that Trump has made good on his campaign promise to keep people from illegally crossing the border.
But Sara Haines noted that Trump is essentially saying that people who “have enough money” can come to the U.S., but noted that “people with money can be criminals, too,” while co-host Sunny Hostin said Trump is forgetting plenty of immigrants by focusing only on the southern border.
“Yes, he ran on immigration, and he ran really on the southern border, because we know we also border Canada, and that’s actually the largest border, but they’re not really going into Canada and looking for those ‘Canadian people’ that are kind of jumping back and forth,” Hostin said, as Griffin tried to interject, “It’s not Canadians that come across the northern border.”
Griffin continued, “The northern border crisis, no, it’s people coming from other parts of the world. India, Mexico. There’s not a bunch of Canadians flocking,” while Hostin tried to reclaim her speaking time.

“Can I just finish what I was saying so that I don’t lose my thought?” she asked, as moderator Whoopi Goldberg told her, “Go ahead.”
Hostin carried on, saying, “It seems to me, this was never really just about immigration, it’s about a certain type of immigrant,” while Griffin cut in again, asking, “Can I just clarify, though?” but Hostin wouldn’t let her.
“Can I finish talking?” she firmly asked, as Griffin replied, “Yes,” and Hostin thanked her. However, the interruptions continued when Goldberg took her turn to speak.
“I want somebody to make a decision about immigration!” she exclaimed, and when she called out Trump for “threatening people,” Griffin cut in to remind her that Kamala Harris had instructed people not to come to the southern border. But Goldberg shot back, “Hold on a second! Just let me finish now, this time.”
When the show returned from a commercial break, tensions had cooled a bit. Griffin said she was sorry for her interruptions, telling her co-hosts, “I know it gets heated, and I don’t mean to step on people when I do. I’m working on interrupting!”
For Goldberg, all was forgiven. She told Griffin, “That’s alright, go ahead, baby,” as she issued her apology.
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
