The View got heated this morning during a discussion about slut-shaming, hypocrisy and former First Lady Melania Trump. The Hot Topics table got fiery while discussing a video Trump posted to promote her memoir, Melania.
In the clip, Trump talks about experiencing backlash to a nude photoshoot she did years ago when the photos began making the rounds again online.
Trump narrates, “Why has the media chosen to scrutinize my celebration of the human form in a fashion photoshoot? Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body?”
Sunny Hostin was not buying Trump’s explanation. She told her co-hosts, “One of the problems with this whole thing is that when she was the First Lady, you could only refer to her as a former model. You could not mention the photos; if you mentioned the photos you were canceled. And by the way, these aren’t just photos. These are erotic, nude photos. This is the same thing that took down Vanessa Williams, OK?”
Alyssa Farah Griffin, however, was more sympathetic. She asked, “I agree with the hypocrisy, but do you defeat ills in society by engaging in the same ills?” to which Ana Navarro replied, “I think you need to confront them with hypocrisy.”
Griffin shot back, “So you defeat hypocrisy with more hypocrisy?”
Navarro told her, “No, I think you defeat hypocrisy and you call it out when you see it,” adding, “I am going to call it out every time that I see it. When I see somebody that calls themselves the party of god and the party of religiousness supporting Donald Trump, I’m going to call out the hypocrisy.”

Griffin, point-blank, asked her next, “Do you have a problem with slut-shaming, though?”
While Navarro initially didn’t give a direct reply, telling her, “Republicans do it plenty, right? They try to do it with Kamala Harris,” she gave a more succinct answer after Griffin grilled her once more by saying, “I’m just asking if you have a problem with it.”
Navarro responded, “Of slut-shaming? Not a bit! I have a problem with hypocrisy. I have a problem with liars,” leading Griffin to proclaim, “I have a problem with both.”
