Alyssa Farah Griffin is calling out the “sexism” in American politics. On this morning’s episode of The View, the co-host slammed ex-Republican candidates Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie and Tim Scott for refusing to back Nikki Haley in the 2024 presidential election.

According to Griffin, DeSantis — who dropped out of the race last weekend and endorsed Donald Trump — is well aware that Haley is “more qualified and more fit to be the GOP nominee” than the former president.

“I’m sorry, it’s giving sexism,” she said. “I also think — I like Chris Christie. I respect him. Him dropping out of the race, criticizing her in leaked audio, and then refusing to back her even though she is the only person who could possibly beat Donald Trump — it feels like the boys can’t handle losing to women.”

Griffin then noted that the U.S. is one of the only Western nations that has never elected a female president.

“There’s some sort of a sexism in our politics we’ve just never been able to get over,” she claimed.

Griffin continued to praise Haley, telling the co-hosts, “Love her or hate her, she’s objectively qualified for the role. She’s objectively running the most professional race. And she would objectively be better than Donald Trump.”

The former White House staffer added that Scott, DeSantis and “all these people lining up behind Trump” also know she’s “better.”

“I’m gonna fight with her until there’s no other option left because this is corroding toward a Donald Trump/Biden rematch that I think is very bad for the country,” Griffin concluded.

When it comes to the sexism argument, however, Ana Navarro had a different take. The co-host presumed that if Haley was beating Trump in the polls, then these men would probably be more inclined to support her.

“I think it’s all about opportunism more than sexism,” Navarro said, to which Griffin replied, “I think it’s both.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
