Alyssa Farah Griffin didn’t get the warmest welcome on The View this morning. The show, which aired its third episode of Season 27 today, opened with a conversation about the Republican candidates vying for the White House and President Joe Biden‘s current approval rating.

When Griffin offered up her suggestions of who could be viable alternatives to Donald Trump — who is seeking a second term after being defeated by Biden in 2020 — she was loudly reprimanded by the studio audience, who booed her.

“This is an election where there is a lot at stake,” Griffin began. After pointing out that Trump is only beating Biden by “one point” in the polls, she noted that Republican hopeful Nikki Haley is beating Biden by six points.

“I think it signals people want a new generation of leadership, they want somebody that feels like turning the page and trying something different,” she said.

Joy Behar immediately grilled her, asking, “And do you think that the Republican Party can deliver that?” before answering her own question with a blunt “No!”

Still, Griffin replied, “I think that the party could. I think someone other than Trump could,” to which Behar shot back, “Really? Who?”

Griffin answered,”I think that Nikki Haley or Mike Pence could be a strong president tomorrow,” but her words were unpopular with viewers, who erupted into a chorus of boos after she dropped the two names. It should be noted that Griffin previously worked closely with Pence; she was hired as Press Secretary to Pence in 2017 and often accompanied him on official trips.

“Listen, I understand,” Griffin said as she turned to address the audience, while Behar and Sunny Hostin suggested the studio was “turning” on the conservative commentator.

But Griffin had no hard feelings, adding, “I love you guys. It’s a Manhattan audience, like…” and raising her palms up as if there was nothing she could do to sway them. With that, she wrapped her (unpopular) argument, telling the panel, “I think just simply having somebody who’s going to have that next generation of leadership is important.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC. Watch this morning’s segment in the video above.
